Market report for: Tuesday November 25th

Good day cattle producers, This is Blaine Huston reporting from the Gladstone Auction mart for Tuesday November 25th. The market was noticeably lower than what we seen last week. We sold 1398 head yesterday. 

Here is a look at the feeder market!

Steers:

3-400lbs- 780-870

4-500lbs- 690-762.50

5-600lbs- 580-665

6-700lbs- 490-562

7-800lbs- 390-479

8-900lbs- 350-431

Heifers

3-400lbs 600-697

4-500lbs-550-650

5-600lbs-500-610

6-700lbs-440-567.50

7-800lbs-390-459

8-900lbs-320-399

Here are some market highlights from yesterday’s sale:

  • 8 black and red exotic steers weighing 482 pounds bring $6.86 a pound ($3305 a head)
  • 16 Black steer calves come in the ring weighing 567 pounds and cash in at $5.84 a pound ($3314 per head) 
  • 4 Charolais calves weighing 739 pounds stamp there ticket at $4.65 a pound ($3434 a head) 

On the Hiefer side of things: 

  • 8 black exotic heifers weighing 493 pounds bring $6.20 per pound ($3055 per head)
  • Black exotic heifers weigh 547 pounds and fetch $5.58 per pound ($3057 per head) 
  • Charolais Heifers weighing 788 pounds bring $4.42 a pound ($3480 a head) 

Plainer type cattle are still seeing some discounts. If your cattle are not weaned for at least 6 weeks expect an aggressive discount. 

As you can see the market was a lower then last week.
